This policy is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). EVScout is deliberately simple: no user accounts, no advertising and no database of its own. We only process personal data if you share it with us through the contact or review form. In addition, technical data arises from hosting and from the services listed below.
EVScout is a purely static website with no server backend of its own and no database. There are no user accounts. Data only reaches us if you actively submit the contact or review form (see below). The Auto-Check wizard, the charging station helper and the vehicle comparison run entirely locally in your browser: your inputs (budget, priorities, answers in the wizard) never leave your device and are not stored anywhere.
To see how the website is used (e.g. how often pages are viewed, or which vehicles, wallboxes or charging stations visitors look at), we use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service. Umami uses no cookies and stores no personal data: only anonymised, aggregated information is recorded (e.g. page viewed, browser type, operating system, approximate country of origin) as well as the interaction events mentioned, without you being identified as a person or tracked across different websites. Details in the Umami privacy policy.
The following external services are integrated on the "Charging" page and are technically necessary for the map function:
For all four points: these are direct connections from your browser to the respective service; we, as the operator of EVScout, neither see nor store this data.
On the "Contact" and "Reviews" pages you can write to us using forms. The details you enter are then processed: for the contact form, name, email address, topic and message; for the review form, stars, first name, text and, if you provide them, email address and the offering you used. The chosen language and the date and time of submission are also stored.
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., a company based in the USA. When the page is accessed, Netlify automatically processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, browser type, time of access) in server logs, as is technically necessary with practically any web hosting. Details in the Netlify privacy policy.
Some of the services mentioned above are not based in Switzerland. Technical data such as your IP address is transmitted abroad, and in the case of Netlify also the details you enter in the forms:
The charging station data from geo.admin.ch, by contrast, stays in Switzerland, as it is an interface of the Confederation. Netlify (USA) states that it is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (status of Netlify’s privacy policy: April 2026). For certified US companies, the Federal Council has recognised an adequate level of data protection. For other providers in countries without recognised equivalent data protection, the transfer is based on contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Details can be found in the providers’ privacy policies linked in each case.
You can request information at any time about the data we have stored about you (for example from the contact or review form), have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw any consent you have given, for example for the publication of a review. To do so, write to us via the contact form or by email. If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), the competent supervisory authority in Switzerland.
If anything changes in how EVScout works that affects data processing (e.g. new features), this policy will be adjusted accordingly.
As of: October 2026.
